Desserts define a meal for me. You best believe I look forward to it throughout the main course—oftentimes, when I’m at a buffet or falling victim to a craving, I skip the meal altogether and go straight for a bowlful of sugary goodness. And yes, while the world goes on about how bad supplementing a meal with sugar might actually be, some guilty pleasures are worth those extra inches, right? Wrong! If we keep justifying our dessert obsession like this, those 40s and 50s won’t be looking too good.
Social media has recently been all about clean, sustainable eating and a lifestyle that our future selves will thank us for. Tough as it may be, everyone’s on a health grind lately. From planned, balanced meals and 5 AM mornings to daily pilates and paddle sessions, in 2026, it’s almost cool to be obsessed with your health. And if you’ve been feeling left out—because I know I have—this new spot in Delhi’s Khan Market is where you need to be.
Perfect for those on the grind (or those trying to be), Lyfberry is a no-nonsense, hole-in-the-wall hotspot dedicated to perfecting their one and only item on the menu: açaí bowls. Yes, I’m talking about those hyper-aesthetic, fruit-covered, unbelievably-coloured, berry-hued bowls that have been making the rounds on Instagram, ever since nutrition-forward living became desirable.
Imagine your daily breakfast yoghurt bowl, and now simply replace the yoghurt base with something tangier and fruitier: that’s açaí for you. Perfect for a wholesome meal, this is a dessert, main course, and starter all in one! Founded by Manav Suri, Chief Executive Officer at Suri Agro Fresh Private, it’s sure to become your new go-to.
Like me, if you’ve been looking for healthy alternatives to replace your sugar intake with something that still tastes just as good, this spot is all set to become one of your favourites. This weekend, replace your sundae with the next best alternative: an icy, crunchy, slurp-worthy bowl of açaí.
What Is Açaí After All?
At its core, açaí (pronounced ah-sigh-ee) is a small, violet berry that grows on açaí palm trees in Brazil’s Amazon Rainforest. For centuries, it’s been a staple food for indigenous communities, consumed not just as a pretty-looking breakfast but also as an everyday source of nourishment. In these communities, it’s often mashed into a thick pulp and eaten alongside savoury dishes like fish or cassava, and even as a curry. It’s only in the last couple of years that the berry made its way into global wellness culture, trading its identity for a far more aesthetic avatar: the açaí bowl.

What lands in our bowls, however, isn’t the fruit in its original form. Fresh açaí berries are highly perishable. So much so that they begin to spoil within hours of harvest. To preserve them, the berries are pulped, flash-frozen, and then blended into a thick, sorbet-like base, which is how we know it. This frozen pulp is what gives açaí bowls their rich texture and unmistakable colour—somewhere between a blackberry and a glass of red wine. Slightly tart, somewhat chocolatey, and not overwhelmingly sweet, it’s the perfect blank canvas for toppings like granola, fresh fruit, nut butters, and seeds.
Interestingly, açaí is also commonly referred to as a superfood. The berry is packed with antioxidants, including anthocyanins, the same compounds that give blueberries and blackberries their nutritional value. It’s also a great source of fibre, healthy fats, and essential nutrients. The combination of slow-release energy, gut-friendly fibre, and natural sugars means it keeps you full without the crash that follows most desserts we so dearly love (this is exactly what makes it a perfect alternative).
It looks like dessert, tastes like dessert, and yet, passes as a meal. And while we’re constantly trying to strike that impossible balance between following discipline and bowing to desire, açaí seems like the right answer.
What’s Up For Grabs At Lyfberry
The açaí bowls at Lyfberry are meant for snacking and sipping, as you go. Served in cups of three different sizes, ranging from bite-sized to a jumbo latte-like cup, the idea is to enjoy the snack as you shop your way through Khan Market. Since it’s a bowl after all, Lyfberry offers a world of toppings, fruits, butters, nuts, and powders to go with your açaí—yes, I wasn’t kidding when I said it’s quite literally a sundae but better.

On the menu front, the folks over at Lyfberry have created six versions for those who prefer the classic route. For pickier eaters (like me) who prefer to curate their bowls to their exact preferences, they also offer a DIY option where you can pick and choose exactly what you’d like alongside your açaí. For fruits, there’s everything from blueberries, goji berries and strawberries, to bananas, dragonfruit, dried apricots, and more.
For crunchies, you can go for your favourite dry fruits, dark chocolate chips, or coconut flakes, and for the grain, you can pick chia seeds, granola, or even pumpkin seeds. If you’d like to supplement the açaí with a powder, there’s coconut, matcha, milk, and vanilla whey protein to match your daily protein intake. Lastly, to finish things off with a sweet accompaniment, there’s peanut butter, condensed milk, almond butter, honey, Nutella, and pistachio butter—basically, every ingredient for a yummy bowlful.
Because I wanted to change most of the things in their pre-made options, I went for the Make-It-Yourself variant. I got an açaí bowl with blueberries, strawberries, chocolate chips, granola, coconut powder, and almond butter. While I was sceptical about its taste at first because açaí is popular for being on the sour side, you best believe my jaw was on the floor a few bites in. I have never had something so dessert-like without it actually being dessert.
I think my combination was legendary because not only was everything healthy (while Nutella tastes heavenly, we all know the secrets behind its taste), but it also complemented the rather tart açaí. I’d definitely recommend adding dark choco chips, since the bitter sweetness of chocolate makes all the difference.
On the texture front, the açaí itself was like a slushie-meets-sorbet, with a satisfying mouthfeel with every bite. The tangy berries, crunchy, wholesome granola, and nutty almond butter made for an absolutely scrumptious meal (pats on own back!). The best part? Açaí is not playing around when it claims to be good enough for a meal. I took the largest size available at Lyfberry, and before reaching the last leg, my tummy had given up in the most satisfying way possible. Unlike most meals that often make us feel like we’ve swallowed the world whole and then some more, this bowl made me feel just full enough.
While açaí bowls have been around for a while, we’re only now witnessing their entry into the Indian market, in their most authentic form. We’ve all seen reels of friends and family on vacation eating something that resembles a bowl such as this one, but have rarely been able to go next door to find it. But now, we can!
Vibe Check

Made to be a pick-up sort of space, Lyfberry is bustling with açaí-hungry people throughout the day. It’s a smaller space because the entire concept is designed around walking, roaming while you devour, mirroring a common concept at similar spots in places like Los Angeles and New York City.
The interiors are cutesy, with wacky quotes, mirrors, and a pleasant lavender tone keeping things calm and breezy. My favourite part? Lyfberry’s mascot, or rather, logo: a toucan! For some lore, toucans, often found in the Amazon rainforest, are the primary birds associated with the consumption and dispersal of açaí berries in the region. Not only are they adorable, but also make for the perfect mascot.
